Simply Good Classic Pub Food

While we prioritise local sourcing, we occasionally select exceptional ingredients from further afield, because every great dish begins with the highest quality produce. Only our suppliers know how strict we are in receiving the best of the best when it comes to produce. We scrutinise everything that enters our kitchen door and if it doesn’t reach our high standard, we send the produce back. Here are a few examples of What you will find on our menus:

Steeped in 16th-century charm, our two indoor dining areas each offer a unique atmosphere, blending historic character with relaxed hospitality.

Main Restaurant Room

Seating up to 26 guests, this warm and inviting space is located beside our beautiful double-sided bar. It features an open fire, making it especially welcoming during the colder months. With rustic beams, soft lighting, and a lively yet intimate ambiance, it’s the heart of the pub—perfect for casual lunches, celebratory dinners, or just a great meal with friends.

The Gun Room

A quieter, more tucked-away space that seats up to 18 guests. It boasts a stunning original inglenook fireplace, creating a cozy and atmospheric setting. Ideal for more intimate meals, small gatherings, or anyone looking for a peaceful escape with old-world charm.

Surrounded by mature trees, flowering borders, and the gentle buzz of village life, our garden spaces are a true countryside escape. With three separate outdoor areas arranged around the pub, there’s always a sunny or shady spot to enjoy.

The Courtyard

A sheltered, characterful space set between four cherry trees, seating up to 30 guests. It’s perfect for relaxed drinks, alfresco dining, or a peaceful early afternoon coffee.

Surrounded by greenery and blooming borders, they’re ideal for summer afternoons, weekend catchups, or a quiet drink with your dog at your feet.

 Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Visited for a date night with my partner and our dog, and we had an incredible time! Food was delicious and the service was fantastic, would gladly visit again.

It's worth noting that while the menu doesn't list any allergens, the staff are very accommodating and many of the dishes can be made/altered to suit.

All the staff were very friendly and did everything they could to make us end three dogs feel welcome. Excellent food and very good service, when up next year will definitely visit.

Booked a roast for Sunday...sumptuous! Many sat out in the warmth of spring sunshine. The very best of W. Sussex. I shall return repeatedly!
